Sally has specialised in family law and related areas throughout her career at the Bar. She is recognised by Chambers and Partners Guide to the Bar as an up-and-coming junior in the field of family law. Sally also edits the Children Law section of the Encyclopedia of Social Services and Child Care Law (Sweet and Maxwell).
Areas of practice
- Children: Sally has considerable experience of public and private law children work. In public law children cases, Sally has acted for local authorities, parents and children in all levels of court.
- Financial remedies: Sally's financial relief practice encompasses all aspects of matrimonial finance and cohabitation disputes including Schedule 1, Children Act claims.
- Judicial Review: Sally has a particular interest in judicial review proceedings as they relate to public law children work. The second edition of her book on Part III, Children Act, 'The Children Act 1989: Local Authority Support for Children and Families' was published by Jordan Publishing in November 2015. She regularly advises and represents claimants and local authorities in judicial review claims relating to the Children Act. She has a particular knowledge of the duties of local authorities under s.17 and s.20, Children Act 1989, the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000, fostering / special guardianship payments and the duties owed to looked after and former looked after children.
Sally is authorised to accept instructions from members of the public as well as from solicitors.
Sally has represented parents, children and local authorities at every level of court up to and including a number of appearances in the Court of Appeal.
